This $5 Smartphone Hack Silently Compromises iPhone, Pixel And Galaxy Devices

Security researchers have used a dirt-cheap component, and some scientific smarts, to hack smartphones using “silent” ultrasonic waves. Worried much?

Academic security researchers have published a paper and supporting videos, showing how smartphone voice assistants can be controlled by commands that are inaudible to mere humans. Hidden vulnerabilities are usually among the most valuable to attackers, but that doesn’t necessarily mean you need to be too concerned by this exploit methodology.
