Why won’t WannaCry die?

Two years on from its explosive first appearance in 2017, why does the WannaCry threat still dominate the ransomware scene?

New reports from leading cybersecurity vendors have revealed a surprising trend as far as the ransomware attack vector is concerned: WannaCry just refuses to die. Indeed, the reports based from Trend Micro and Kaspersky point to the inescapable fact that, more than two years after it exploded on the scene and patches were made available, WannaCry remains the single most active ransomware family there is.
